Construction of a new building to house the Institute-Museum for the Armenian Genocide has been launched in Yerevan, according to the establishment’s director.
Hayk Demoyan

“Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has approved the project, with the construction works already underway,” the director, Hayk Demoyan, told PanArmenian.Net.

Demoyan said the new building has been designed by leading architect Sashur Kalashyan, who is also the co-author and architect of the Genocide Memorial Complex at Tsitsernakaberd.

The new building is expected to be inaugurated ahead of the Armenian Genocide centennial to be marked on April 24, 2015.

“The main building of the museum will be used for showcasing archival documents. The number of the Genocide archives has doubled in the past four years,” said Demoyan.
