RA General Prosecutor received OSCE/ODIHR Director Janez Lenarcic


On April 7 the RA General Prosecutor Aghvan Hovsepyan received the delegation headed by Janez Lenarcic, the Director of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR). The Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan Ambassador Sergey Kapinos participated in the meeting.

During the meeting the sides discussed the issues highlighted in the report by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights mainly in the framework of the program of “Trial Observations”. Mr. Lenarcic mentioned that the main purpose of the report is to support the efficient implementation of the improvements in the legal system, to create a legislative field and atmosphere where the Prosecutor’s Office, the advocates and the court could implement their duties and functions in the most effective way.

By highly evaluating the work carried out by the OSCE Office, the Prosecutor-General signified the implementation of the professional discussions on the issues mentioned in the report which will enable to process a package of draft laws in order to improve the legislative field.

The first discussion is due to take place at the end of April during which the problems that occur during the preliminary investigation will be discussed.

On the guests request the Prosecutor-General gave details on the results and difficulties during the implementation of the criminal cases initiated on March 1-2 mass disorders, murders, arsons and violence used against the citizens and policemen.

The sides agreed to continue the cooperation.
