A 23-year-old from the small village of Gegharot has been found guilty of blackmail and fined 500,000 drams – about $1,300 – for trying to extort money from his girlfriend.

A court found Varujan Amirkhanyan guilty, after he took nude photos of his girlfriend, then demanded that she pay him 70,000 drams – about $180 – or else he would post them on the internet.

Amirkhanyan met the girl online, then took the photos during one of their dates.
