Unease in the Center: Area around Liberty Square becomes stand off

Blocks of streets around Liberty Square have become scenes of violent flare-ups between law enforcement and the public as word spreads that government troops have taken over the territory where supporters of Levon Ter-Petrosyan were camped.

At the corners of Tumanyan/Mashtots, Terian/Tumanyan, Mashtots/Sayat Nova and Sayat Nova/Terian crowds have gathered, sporadically scattering as police chase others through their midst.
