Armory called to scene of demonstration outside embassy

An armored military vehicle has been stationed outside the French Embassy, where supporters of Levon Ter-Petrosyan have been gathering since forces cleared their protest assembly grounds this morning at Liberty Square.

Police have told supporters of Levon Ter-Petrosyan that they are welcome to take their protest march “outside the city”.

But oppositionists including Heritage Party MP Stepan Safaryan said they fear it is a ploy by police to make it easier to control and potentially harm protestors.

Police still tried to convince the crowd to move to the stadium.

Protesters attacked some of the police officers separated from the platoon and punctured police cars’ tires.




Leaders of the opposition urged people stay calm, but not to disperse. An armored military vehicle was stationed outside the French Embassy and almost simultaneously new battalions of special forces were also delivered to the site.
