Midnight
Fires still burn outside, but the center of Yerevan has gone mostly quiet.

Next morning Ministry of Health reports 7 fatalities and 133 injuries. (Later updated to 10 deaths and 217 injuries.)

International structures respond to the ongoing events in the Armenian capital Yerevan strongly condemning the use of force by Armenian authorities.

Quiet, at last: Long day dwindles into uneasy night

Fires still burn outside a market, but the center of Yerevan has gone mostly quiet with pedestrians cautiously but casually moving about.

ArmeniaNow has been told of sporadic looting, but in places where shots and shouting were heard the night is practically silent. There is also rumor that police in one of the hotspots near the French Embassy, put down weapons and refused to fire on the crowd.

Within minutes, oddly, after President Robert Kocharyan declared a State of Emergency sometime around 10 p.m., the major raucous settled as if time had been called on some hideous competition between brothers.
